A lipoma is a benign tumor made up of fat that generally has no complications.
It is above all aesthetically embarrassing for the affected person when it is located on the skin. The origin of this type of tumor is not well understood. It mainly affects adults between the ages of 40 and 60. Treatment, when necessary, is surgery.

Personalized assessment
To determine the most appropriate treatment, an initial consultation is recommended.
The aim is to analyze your needs and draw up a customized treatment plan.
The lipoma appears as a soft ball to the touch. The fat inside is exactly the same as normal subcutaneous fat. Variable in size, it can appear on different parts of the body: particularly on the nape of the neck, the torso, the arms or the breasts, when it's a cutaneous lipoma. But it can exist almost anywhere inside the body (stomach, lungs, brain, liver, etc.).
It's a benign tumor that develops gradually. Unlike malignant tumors, lipoma cells do not migrate to other organs, nor do they metastasize. Most lipomas are small, with 80% measuring less than 5 cm, and the remainder less than 10 cm.
The Clinique du Lac can offer you a surgical excision. The first step is to meet with the plastic surgeon during an initial consultation, after which the procedure can be scheduled. The procedure lasts between 30 and 45 minutes and does not require general anesthesia or time off work.
