Labia minora surgery

Reduction labioplasty or nymphoplasty consists in reducing the size of labia minora deemed too large.

Excess labia minora can be considered unsightly by some, and can even cause functional discomfort in daily life (sporting activities, sexual relations...).

The procedure then consists of resecting the excess skin. The scar can be longitudinal (longitudinal technique) or transverse ("wedge resection"), depending on the morphology of each patient.

Nymphoplasty is performed on an outpatient basis (admission to the clinic in the morning, discharge the same day) under local or general anaesthetic, depending on the patient's preference. Sutures are absorbable and disappear on their own within 3 weeks.

After nymphoplasty, showers can be resumed the following day. Bathing should be avoided for around 3 weeks. Wearing tight-fitting clothing is not recommended, and sexual intercourse should be avoided for around 3 to 4 weeks.

In the case of excess skin on the clitoral hood, a clitoridoplasty may be associated.

Reconstruction of the hymen

Hymenoplasty or hymen reconstruction is a procedure designed to restore the integrity of the hymen and return it to its original anatomy.

Whatever the reason for the reconstruction, it is possible at any age and regardless of the number of previous sexual encounters. The procedure is performed on an outpatient basis, under local
anesthesia, depending on the patient's wishes.

The sutures used absorb within 3 weeks. Showers can be resumed the following day. There is no real pain. A check-up at 3 weeks will allow us to monitor the results of the surgery.

Showers are permitted from the next day or two, but bathing and sexual relations are not recommended for 2 to 3 weeks.

In the vast majority of cases, patients judge the result to be satisfactory or very satisfactory. The scar is usually extremely discreet. It should be noted that edema persists for one to three months, and that it takes about six months to obtain the final result of this procedure.
